Settling In

Ahh, Internet!  On an actual computer!  How I missed you!!

Yeah, life in still in the seriously adjusting stage.  We are getting into a sense of normal routine... finally.  Of course there are still boxes of stuff in every room, but considering we will be leaving this residency in a few months, it is hard to get every little thing out of the boxes!

Some lessons learned over the last couple weeks:
1. It is always nice to have the whole family together- no matter where that is.
2. After not having accessibility to so-called "normal" privileges, those really mean something to you when you get them back!  I went through not having use of a kitchen sink, hardly any dishes, no washer & dryer, no furniture except folding table & chairs and air mattresses.  I have definitely been happy to clean and do the normal things I usually view as "chores."  And the internet thing... it's nice to have it on my phone, but being able to see the full screen is exciting! :-)
3.  Never take for granted what you have or don't have at one house because you don't really know what the next house will offer.  We used to gripe about little things at our previous house but now we want those things back... kind of.  Not that this move is normal or that we "chose" to live here, but we definitely miss some of our old house's quirks!  And we're learning from this rental of the things we would like to avoid...!
4. When your world is being turned upside down, your kids just want you to take time out and play with them!  When Sam started back to school, Adrian had no one to do anything with and I was trying to be busy with unpacking.  So all last week I played games with him from breakfast until lunch time!  Then I'd spend the next couple hours until we had to pick up Sam unpacking, organizing, and flattening boxes.  Even though I would have loved to just get those boxes out of the way instantly, it wasn't worth the fussing about not having anyone to play with!  So while I felt I wasn't being productive, peace was high on my list to keep as well!

I guess all in all, we have learned that being together and doing things as a family helps our attitudes and makes things easier.

Happiness quote of the day:

Nothing is worth it if you aren't happy.
